How payment works for Nigerian stores on Vendroad

· 3 min read

If your store's currency is set to NGN, payments run through Nomba, Vendroad's local payment partner. This article answers some questions you may have.

Why does my customer see a Vendroad account number and not my own bank account?

Because they're not paying you directly. They're paying into Vendroad's account first, and you get paid out by Vendroad immediately.

Here's the flow:

  1. Your customer checks out and is sent to a Nomba-hosted checkout page to pay by card or bank transfer. This includes local and international customers. For foreign customers, they will be shown the card option.
  2. That payment goes into one single Vendroad-owned Nomba account.
  3. As soon as your order is confirmed paid, Vendroad automatically transfers the cash to your own bank account. Note that payment processing fee applies for every transaction. This is deducted before the transfer to your bank account.

So your customer never sees your bank details because they are paying Vendroad first, and Vendroad pays you. If you want customers to pay you directly, check out how to use the invoice payment method for this.

How much is the payment charge?

It depends on your plan and how the customer paid:

Transaction Fees Table
Plan Local payment (Nigerian card / bank transfer) International card
Free 5% fee 5% fee
Paid plan 2% fee 4.5% fee

Other frequently asked questions

Why the international rate is higher: if a customer pays with a non-Nigerian card, the fee is higher than a local Nigerian card or bank transfer, this is determined automatically by payment processors.

When do I actually get paid? Immediately, right after the order is confirmed paid. The moment Vendroad's system confirms your customer's payment went through, it immediately queues your payout to your registered bank account. In practice this usually lands within a few minutes.

If you don't see the payout as expected, please contact support.

Does my fee change if I upgrade my plan? Yes, moving from Free to Starter or Pro drops your local transaction fee from 5% to 2%, and your international card fee from 5% to 4.5%.

Is this safe? Nomba is a licensed Nigerian payment processor, used by many businesses for card and bank transfer collection. Vendroad doesn't store your customers' card details; that's handled entirely on Nomba's side.
